Excellence Through Stewardship participated in the National Agricultural Biotechnology Council 27 (NABC27) meeting at the Pennsylvania State University on June 2nd and 3rd. Penn State and NABC27 provided an excellent forum to explore issues in agricultural biotechnology.

In addition to hearing the informative discussion, ETS attended the meeting to raise the profile of our organization to those members of the academic, industrial, governmental and public communities in attendance. All of these stakeholders play an important role in helping ETS promote best practices in agricultural technology.

Nick Storer of Dow AgroScience delivered a presentation on insect resistance management (IRM), the global IRM strategy being implemented by the technology developers and the new ETS Guide on Resistance Management. The presentation reiterated the industries commitments to the sustainable development and deployment of insect protection traits. It introduced the challenges associated with such a commitment and referenced the ETS global stewardship initiative as central to IRM. Importantly, the presentation noted that this effort required the involvement of external stakeholders.

ETS’s new Guide for Resistance Management were distributed to members of the audience.
