CIMMYT Successfully Completes ETS Audits

Excellence Through Stewardship congratulates the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) for successfully completing their audit requirements in Mexico and Kenya.  Formed in 1966, CIMMYT has continually demonstrated their status as a global leader in the development of improved varieties of maize and wheat.  They have also consistently demonstrated their commitment to best practices and quality management systems, which their completion of their ETS Audits helps to highlight.

CIMMYT is well known for their efforts in the Green Revolution which led to widespread adoption of improved crop varieties and farming practices across Asia.  In fact, the impact CIMMYT has had across the globe is striking.  Wheat varieties developed by CIMMYT have been used on over 64 million hectares of land in developing countries.  Maize planted in non-temperate areas of developing countries use CIMMYT varieties on nearly half of the area sown.  CIMMYT scientists have received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for helping to provide bread for a hungry world and the World Food Prize in 2000 and 2014 for the development of more nutritious maize varieties and highly productive wheat varieties, respectively.

ETS is proud of the work CIMMYT has done over the years and are happy to announce their successful completion of their audit requirements.
